The Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) Transfer Credit Policy

The Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) transfer credit policy applies to students who entered Fall 2023 and after.

  • Students who entered as first-time freshmen in the Fall of 2023 may transfer a maximum of 32 credit hours toward their Bachelor’s degree at Rensselaer, of which only 28 credit hours may come from AP or IB courses.
  • Students who score 4 or 5 on an accepted exam may receive academic credit at Rensselaer. This does not include Math, Science, Computer Science, or Statistics courses.
