To support students, faculty, staff, and the entire community while upholding academic policies at RPI. The Office of the Registrar is committed to maintaining academic records of past, present, and future students with integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and security.
Services
The Office of the Registrar is responsible for several academic administrative functions. Primary duties and services include:
- Academic Planning:
Declaring Majors, Minors, and Pathways, Changing Majors, and Degree Works. - Academic Policies and Procedures:
Implementing and communicating academic policies and procedures to students, faculty, and staff. - Academic Records:
Maintaining accurate and secure academic records, including grades, transcripts, and degree audits. - Class Scheduling:
Coordinating the scheduling of classes, including room assignments and timetables for each academic term. - Compliance and Reporting:
Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, including reporting enrollment data and maintaining student privacy in accordance with FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act). - Course Registration:
Facilitating the enrollment process for students, including adding, dropping, and withdrawing from courses. - Degree Conferral:
Managing the process of conferring degrees, including verifying that students have met all graduation requirements (Graduation and Commencement). - Transcripts and Certifications:
Issuing official transcripts, enrollment verifications, and other academic certifications for current and former students. - Transfer Credits:
Evaluating and processing transfer credit requests from other institutions to ensure they meet RPI’s standards and requirements.
