The Pass/No Credit option allows you to take courses outside your curriculum or minor program.
Pass/No Credit Policies:
- Grade choices are “P” (Pass) or “NC” (Fail)
- Grade points will not be assigned and therefore not reflected in your GPA
- “NC” is a failing grade and can be cause for academic action
- You may take up to four courses as Pass/No credit
Pass/No Credit courses include:
- Free electives
- Two courses in the Science Core unless explicitly required by name
- Two courses in the HASS Core that are not part of the Depth or Pathways sequence or used to meet the Communication Intensive (CI) requirement
Pass/No Credit courses that are excluded:
- Courses required by name in your Major or required for a professional/technical/multidisciplinary/science elective or similarly designated subsets of courses (except where explicitly stated otherwise) to be applied toward your program curriculum
- Courses used towards your Minor
- A HASS course used towards your Pathway
- Courses at the 6000-level
How to add or drop a Pass/No Credit course:
- To add a Pass/No Credit course submit a Pass/No Credit Approval Form to the Office of the Registrar with your adviser's signature before the deadline listed on the academic calendar.
- To drop a Pass/No Credit course submit a Remove Pass/No Credit Designation Form before the deadline listed on the academic calendar.
Note: Graduate and non-matriculated students cannot take the Pass/No Credit option.
