Requesting a Final Exam

The Registrar’s Office will send out an email prior to the beginning of every term to department assistants and schedulers, requesting a list of final exams expected to be offered at the end of the term. The Registrar acknowledges that this list may change over the course of several weeks as the term begins; however, a general list of final exams will be published so that families can plan for travel arrangements in advance.

The registrar uses a set rubric to assign the specific day and time of exams in hope of avoiding any potential conflicts. If a specific date is requested that contradicts the rubric, the faculty member needs to be aware that it may create additional issues for students, and they must resolve those with the students on a case-by-case basis.

Room placement for final exams is set by the registrar, and rooms are intentionally assigned to be approximately double the seating capacity of the class or more, when able. If a faculty member wishes to hold their final in the same room that the class has been conducted in for the term, that information should be passed on to the department scheduler as soon as possible. If a student has a physical limitation regarding access to a building, that should be relayed to the registrar.

Additional rooms for students needing special accommodations are requested separately; these rooms are specifically assigned by the registrar.
